The green monsters from IESI

Everyone should know by now that our green monsters have showed up in our driveways from a deal struck between our fine city and IESI.

Does anyone know what the cut the city gets for forcing us to only use IESI?

If you were unlucky enough to purchase a green can from IESI please call them to get a whopping $10 refund. If I recall correctly people paid $60 for them. Thanks IESI!!

If you had paid up for the quarter (through August 31st) IESI is supposed to send out automatic refunds.

Effective on August 31st. We must use our green monsters. IESI will refuse to collect garbage from any other containers. But they said they will be nice and take your old trash can from you.

Just thought I would throw out an interesting fact from the City Council elections...

"Only 13.7 percent of the registered voters in Fate, voted."

Thank you Ryan Pfuhl for the actual figures.

Fate City Council Results

Well the results of the Fate City Council Election are in. It looks like "AD-gate 2009" did not have any adverse effects on the election. All candidates named in the AD won their perspective seats.

One sad item from look at the election results is the voter turnout. City Hall claims that we are at around 5000 citizens. The average votes for each election was only 398. That's only a 7% voter turnout! How sad is that? I guess the people don't care about their city.

Place 1
Kerry Wiemolky 237 61%
Autumn Lobinsky 154 39%

Place 3
Forest Murley 256 63%
Wilbur Williams 148 37%

Place 5
K.C. Erwin 217 55%
Ryan Pfuhl 117 30%
Brad Bianucci 61 15%

Place 6
Tammy Ryan 273 68%
David Hill 131 32%

Political Craziness

Someone call Fox News and CNN! There is a political scandal amidst our upcoming City Council Elections. It looks like some sneaky person out there placed an ad in the May 1st edition of the Rockwall Herald-Banner that suggested four of the candidates for Fate City Council want to raise taxes and HOA fees for residents of the Woodcreek subdivision.

The Ad was paid for with cash in person by someone claiming to be Bo Baker, (who happened to be out of town during the week the ad was placed) The sneaky ad placer even used a fake address.

The four candidates named in the ad are:

K. C. Erwing - Place 5
Tammy Ryan - Place 6
Kerry Wiemolky - Place 1
Forest Murley - Place 3

Who is this sneaky individual who is bringing big city political tactics to our little town?

Fate's New Water Bill is Here!!!

The new water bill is here...and the Fine Citizens of Fate rejoiced! Congratulations city, you've almost made it to the 21st century! What's next? Being able to pay our bill online? I know, I know, I should be thrown in the loony bin for that thought. That idea is pure craziness in this day in age. Maybe the cost in these new bill is the reason behind the 10 day grace period before they shut you water off.

On a side note the monthly usage graph is a nice feature. Except it points out the "Bill Anomaly" of last August.

So City, I know you said that there was nothing wrong with the outrageous bills we received last August, but answer me this.... In a year of usage my household averaged less than 4,200 gallons a month. and all of a sudden we use over 20,000 gallons???? And not only did it happen to my house hold but many many households all over the city?? That is ludicrous!

Don't pay your bill? Lose your water...

Well the City of Fate has drawn their line in the sand. A notice has been posted in the Current Developments section of the City's web page. If you don't pay your water bill by the 25th of the month they'll turn off your water.

Wow the economic times must be hitting the City. No warnings??? Only a a 10 day window till they shut off your water???? That is absurd! Especially seeing how reliable the post office is in Fate!

City Council Minutes

I don't know how may other residents look at our fine City's webpage, but looking today I see they are very behind with updating the Fate City Council minutes. Maybe the city doesn't realize that Fate isn't a small town any more where Cousin Jim and Aunt May spread the word of the city business at the local feed store.

The last minutes posted is from November 17 last year. I feel this is unacceptable! With this day in age how long does it take someone to type up the minutes and upload them?

I know the posting and distribution of minutes has been brought up during City Council meetings, and the people were told to write a letter requesting the minutes (which the people did with no luck). At least the city seems concerned...

Come on City, can your residents get an update?
